What Did You Say Happened?

In the midst of running errands one morning, we stopped by a local store.  The store was just opening, so there was the usual line outside.  Most everything is behind the counter and you have to ask for it.  Ludia was up at the counter looking when a man wrapped his arm tightly around her neck and jerked her back away from the counter.  This man then turned around and slammed his fist between Lydia’s eyes, across the bridge of her nose, knocking the wind and sense out of her for the moment.  She would have fallen back had it not been for the press of the crowd.  Everyone in the store was watching when he hit her.  Ron approached him about hitting Lydia and told him he was calling the police.  The man initially laughed it off, then suddenly made a dash for the door.  Ron kept a grip on the guy, grasping him firmly by his coat, until the police arrived.  He twist4ed Ron’s fingers, and dug his fingernails into Ron’s hand until blood was running down his arm.  When the police arrived, we gave a quick account, and they placed the man in the police car.  We decided to file a formal complaint.  Lydia had to sign a couple of documents, but we were waiting there most of the day.  Ron knew that if we did not keep the guy there, the police would do nothing, not even file a report.  No search is ever done by the police for someone.  We went with the policeman back into the store to talk to Alina, the manager.  Alina verified that she had seen what had happened and would make a statement.  All we were told was that we would receive a letter in about a week with information about what would be done.  Even though it hurt, Lydia was more afraid than anything else.  It has now been several weeks since the occurrence and we are still awaiting information.  Thank you fro your prayers for our family’s protection! map of Lithuania Please pray with us regarding the resolution of this situation.

Needless to say, these kinds of incidents can be a discouragement in our daily lives.  God has a special way of bringing encouragement!  Laurynas is 8 years old.  He accepted Christ as his Saviour and loves Sunday School.  Learning the new Bible verse for the week is never a problem, neither is remembering last week’s lesson.  Just a couple weeks ago, when I was leaving, Laurynas grabbed me tightly around my waist and hugged me.  What was a hand shake and a wave is now a hug.  Upon my return later that week, I was greeted with a hug.  Someone turned to me and said, “Wow, I think he is happy to see you!”

God smiles and reaches out to each of us through the hands of others.  Sometimes the hands may only be eight years old.  Laurynas has been a special blessing this month.  God help us to see and feel Your love as it surrounds us!  Thanks be unto God for allowing us to serve Him!
