Getting Paid to Raise
Your Own Child
Exodus 2:1-10 and Hebrews
11:23-28
What My Mother Taught Me
My mother taught me TO APPRECIATE A JOB WELL DONE:
"If you're going to kill each other, do it outside - I just finished
cleaning!"
My mother taught me RELIGION:
"You better pray that will come out of the carpet."
My mother taught me about TIME TRAVEL:
"If you don't straighten up, I'm going to knock you into the middle of
next week!"
My mother taught me LOGIC:
"Because I said so, that's why."
My mother taught me FORESIGHT:
"Make sure you wear clean underwear, in case you're in an accident."
My mother taught me IRONY:
"Just keep laughing and I'll give you something to cry about."
My mother taught me about the science of OSMOSIS:
"Shut your mouth and eat your supper!"
My mother taught me about CONTORTIONISM:
"Will you look at the dirt on the back of your neck!"
My mother taught me about STAMINA:
"You'll sit there 'til all that spinach is finished."
My mother taught me about WEATHER:
"It looks as if a tornado swept through your room."
My mother taught me how to solve PHYSICS PROBLEMS:
"If I yelled because I saw a meteor coming toward you; would you listen
then?"
My mother taught me about HYPOCRISY:
"If I've told you once, I've told you a million times-Don't Exaggerate!"
My mother taught me THE CIRCLE OF LIFE:
"I brought you into this world, and I can take you out."
My mother taught me about ENVY:
"There are millions of less fortunate children in this world who don't
have wonderful parents like you do!"
My mother taught me about BEHAVIOR
MODIFICATION:
"Stop acting like your father!"
Real Mothers. . .
Real Mothers know right where their kitchen
utensils are…out in the sandbox!
Real Mothers don't eat quiche; they don't
have time to make it.
Real Mothers sometimes have sticky floors,
filthy ovens, but happy kids.
Real Mothers know and accept that dried play
dough doesn't come out of shag carpets.
Real Mothers don't want to know what
the vacuum just sucked up.
Real Mothers know that a child's growth is
not measured by height or
years or grade...It is marked by the
progression from “Mama” to “Mommy” to “Mom”.
Different views of Mom:
4 YEARS OF AGE ~ My Mommy can do
anything!
8 YEARS OF AGE ~ My Mom knows a lot! A
whole lot!
12 YEARS OF AGE ~ My Mother doesn't
really know quite everything.
14 YEARS OF AGE ~ Mom…duh!
16 YEARS OF AGE ~ My mom? She's like, so
“not cool”.
18 YEARS OF AGE ~ That old woman? She's
way out of touch!
25 YEARS OF AGE ~ Well, she might know a
little bit about it.
35 YEARS OF AGE ~ Before we decide,
let's get Mom's opinion.
45 YEARS OF AGE ~ Wonder what Mom thinks
about it?
65 YEARS OF AGE ~ Wish I could talk it
over with Mom.
We have an interesting story in our text
