Christmas is the new Easter!  We should celebrate it in the springtime, for the birth of Christ was only necessary to bring about the life of Christ, the death of Christ, and the resurrection of Christ.  He was born to die that we might live!

John 10:10
... I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

He came not just to preach the gospel.  He came that there might BE a gospel to preach.  The gospel is the life, death, burial, and resurrection of the Messiah.
